Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) is the main airport for Quito. It is located in Tababela, east of the city, approximately 37 km from the urban area.
The airport began operations at its current location on February 20, 2013. Its operation and administration are managed by Corporación Quiport S.A., the concessionaire for airport services in Quito. The Metropolitan Public Enterprise for Airport Services (EPMSA) is the municipal entity that oversees the concession.

- In 2025, the airport handled 5.4 million passengers, connecting Quito to 8 domestic and 14 international destinations via 12 commercial airlines.
- In 2025, it was recognized by Skytrax as the Best Regional Airport in South America for the tenth time, and also as the cleanest airport in South America.

Taxi
The airport has authorized taxis available. As a reference, a trip to the La Mariscal area costs approximately USD 25. The fare may vary depending on the exact destination. If you are heading to Avenida 12 de Octubre, it is recommended to confirm the price before the trip.
Public transport
Public transport is available from the airport to Quito. The Airport – Río Coca – El Labrador route provides connections to other transport systems in the city, including the Metro, the trolleybus (Trolebús), and the Ecovía. Reaching Avenida 12 de Octubre will require making transfers.
Express transport
There are also express transport services between the airport and the city. For instance, Aeroservicios has operated services to the Historic Center. It is recommended to check current schedules and fares directly with the provider before your trip.
